About Me

Well, I finally got a page published and here I am. Now what can I tell you. I live in New Plymouth, New Zealand, which is just to the right of Australia if you didn't know. I have my partner Shona, and our daughter Michaela who is 9 1/2 months old. Lastly there is Smokey the cat.

I am a part time chef at 'Chino's Café' in New Plymouth, where I have worked for a year and a half. I have always loved food, and have enjoyed the career change. As I love cooking for people I have included a recipe for something special further down the page.

Food and family are not my only interests. I play miniature wargames, mostly 20th century, but also American War of Independence, American Civil War, and some sci-fi. I am a big history buff for these periods of history, and are about to publish a net magazine for wargamers. In national competitions I have achieved 2 first places, and many minor placings. I am particularly interested in the U.S. Marine Corps. I make scenery and paint figures which really make the games more enjoyable when you have done it all yourself.

I also enjoy model making, especially military subjects. I have scratchbuilt and converted a number of subjects, and enjoy detailing and researching the model. I am currently working on a collection of aircraft and helicopters used by the U.S. Marine Corps, which is a reasonable big job.

Photography is another interest. I have photographed my sisters wedding, and am due to shoot a friends next year. I use both 35mm and a Olympus Camedia C-1000L digital for a lot of shots now days.

I enjoy music, with some of my favourite bands/artists being Ultravox, ZZ Top, Bad Company, Midnight oil, Split Enz, Sisters of Mercy, Def Leppard, The Sweet, and many older groups of the 60's, 70's, and 80's.

My other interest is aviation. I love flying, and like all aircraft. Airshows have me looking like a tourist with several cameras, film bulging everywhere, and a million and one things protruding out of pockets. My favourite aircraft is the Grumman F14 Tomcat flown by the U.S. Navy and the AH-1W Cobra helicopter.

And somewhere I manage to be a computer fan, and are now about to publish a net magazine for wargamers, with a monthly update. So a lot of work lies ahead, but the challenge and fun make it all worthwhile if I can benefit the hobby.
